Which problem do we solve
Problem
Hundreds of billions of coffee cups are consumed worldwide every year. Less than 1% is recycled. In Leuven alone, 4.000.000 cups end up in rubbish bins. Quppa is the circular reusable coffee cup system designed to make reuse easy.

How we solve it
Solution
We designed and implemented a smart scanner to identify and track reusable coffee cups. All electronics are nicely fit in a sleek black housing with luminescent logo.
- Cups are identified using UHF RFID technology.
- After scanning a cup, the logo lights up and the data is uploaded to the cloud.
- This way every cup can be tracked and linked to a user account.
Embedded System
The guts of the device consist of:
- Processing unit
- UHF RFID reader
- LEDs to light up the logo
- Buzzer for sound feedback
Casing
Sleek black casing design with luminescent logo. The black and transparent parts are both 3D printed in-house.
